Municipality of Legrad has developed an interactive solar potential map, an innovative digital tool that provides residents with a detailed insight into the potential for using solar energy on the rooftops of their homes and buildings. This map is a tangible result of spatial and energy analyses conducted within the EU project BauNOW, which aims to promote a green and just transition through local solutions.
The Solar Map of the Municipality of Legrad is available online at www.solarnamapa.hr/opcina-legrad and includes all types of buildings – family homes, apartment buildings, public facilities, and private sector buildings. Each user can simply enter their address to find their property and discover the annual solar potential of their roof, the recommended capacity of a photovoltaic system, as well as investment costs, expected energy savings, and return on investment.
A key value of this tool lies in its practical application – in addition to a visual representation of solar suitability, users are offered the option to automatically generate a document with a detailed financial calculation, which can serve as a basis for technical planning or obtaining offers for solar system installation. Furthermore, the map allows for investment simulations using different financing models, including co-financing through the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund (FZOEU).
For the first time, the residents of Legrad now have a clear, practical, and free tool that enables them to assess the cost-effectiveness of investing in solar panels, understand the energy potential of their property, and make informed decisions about investing in renewable energy sources. Through this tool, the Municipality demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development and its active support for residents in the energy transition.
As noted, the Solar Map of the Municipality of Legrad was developed as a result of the municipality’s pilot activity A.1.2 Analysis of territorial characteristics of participating project areas within the project Investing in Green and Just Transition for a New Sustainable Business as Usual Economy (BauNOW), co-funded by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme.
