Kočevje strengthens green mobility with two new electric vehicles for community rides

15/01/2026

As part of the project activities, two new electric vehicles were purchased and handed over for use to the Municipality of Kočevje to support greener and more inclusive local mobility. The vehicles will be operated through the Sopotniki association, providing shared rides for older people, persons with disabilities, and other residents who face mobility barriers—helping them reach essential services and everyday activities more easily.

Alongside introducing the vehicles, the pilot also aims to build a clearer picture of e-mobility in Kočevje by assessing the current situation and residents’ needs and satisfaction, including through questionnaires. This feedback will support future mobility planning and help ensure that green investments respond to real user experiences.

The cooperation was formalised on 17 December, when the contract was signed by Mayor Gregor Košir and Blaž Barborič from the Geodetic Institute of Slovenia. An official e-car handover event is being prepared together with the Municipality and Sopotniki in the first half of January, to mark the start of the vehicles’ regular use and raise awareness of the importance of sustainable mobility solutions.
