From 20 to 22 May 2026, partners, institutions and stakeholders gathered in Rome for the final event of the BauNOW – New Business as Usual project, entitled Investing in Green and Just Transition. The three-day event provided an opportunity to present the project’s achievements, evaluate its results and discuss future actions supporting a greener, more resilient and socially just Mediterranean region.
The programme began at the Europa Experience – David Sassoli centre, where project partners reviewed the results achieved during the project and discussed opportunities offered by the EU Social Climate Fund. The discussion on project evaluation, results and possible follow-up activities was led by the Geodetic Institute of Slovenia.
On 21 May, participants visited the Laudato Si’ Borgo and Higher Educational Center in Castel Gandolfo. The visit focused on the principles of the Green and Just Transition, sustainable development and investments in renewable energy. Through working groups, presentations and discussions, participants exchanged ideas and developed recommendations for encouraging public and private investment at European, national and local levels. Project partners from Albania, Croatia, France, Italy, Montenegro and Slovenia also presented their work and key achievements.
The final day featured the International Mediterranean Green and Just Transition Investment Forum, held at the Europa Experience centre in Rome. Representatives of public authorities, the banking sector and private stakeholders discussed investment priorities and proposed recommendations for directing financial resources towards sustainable and socially responsible development. The programme concluded with a session on impact investment and its connection to the forthcoming EU financial framework for 2028–2034.
The final event marked an important conclusion to the BauNOW project, while also underlining the need for continued cooperation between public institutions, financial actors and the private sector to turn the objectives of the Green and Just Transition into concrete territorial policies and investments.
